Google Kills Android Menu Button, Replaces It with Action Bar

As Ice Cream Sandwich begins rolling to more devices, you will not find the Menu button on Android devices anymore. Honeycomb 3.0 had reduced users’ reliance on physical buttons and now Google has decided to kill the Menu button and get its ‘action bar’ on the forefront. Now, action bar isn’t something new and was there, even before Honeycomb.
Menu out, action bar in

The Android developers’ blog states, “You might worry that it’s too much work to begin using the action bar, because you need to support versions of Android older than Honeycomb. However, it’s quite simple for most apps because you can continue to support the Menu button on pre-Honeycomb devices, but also provide the action bar on newer devices with only a few lines of code changes.” In the blog post, Google also tells its Android developers to start using the action bar, which is a dedicated space to the application and actions that users can perform. The app is recognized and gives it users several actions to choose from.

It tells developers that apps should stop relying on the hardware Menu button, and they should also stop thinking about activities using a menu button. The activities should provide buttons for important user actions directly in the action bar (or elsewhere on screen). Those that can’t fit in the action bar will end up in the action overflow. Basically, those actions, which don’t need to be on the screen can overflow off the screen. The action overflow is a three dotted icon found on the extreme right. Users can reveal the overflow and other options by touching an overflow button that appears alongside the on-screen action buttons.

So, even if an app supports older Android versions, it won’t display the Menu button for versions Honeycomb 3.0 and beyond. Those with apps developed for Android 2.3 and lower, and when running on the Honeycomb tablet of Google Nexus will see that the system adds the action overflow button besides the system navigation.

Aakash Tablet Review

Aakash ,the most awaited low cost tablet hitting the world tablet era.Aakash tablet is manufactured by a U.K based company Datawind along with Indian Government. It got somuch apprecition from other countries. But sad to say that Aakash 1(student version) is not come to expectation.
This review says the rest:
DISPLAY
First talking about touchscreen ,since it is a resistive touchscreen its responce of touch is slower than capacitive display devices.
OPERATING SYSTEM
The tablet contains Android 2.2 OS,but we can't access Android Market Place. However,Java support is there ,so we can download apps from website and can be used and is working properly(downloaded from getjar.com).
PDF SUPPORT
PDF in tablet works perfectly. There is not much lag to move from one page to another page.it only takes 5-10 seconds to load next page.
MICROSOFT OFFICE DOCUMENT
The Microsoft office in the tablet is satisfactory. The pictures and special characters get jumbled, when we try to read it and the page has significant lag also.
OFFICE SUITE
Aakash tablet contains preloaded office suite but creating and editing office document is not working. For document editing there is a text editior like NotePad which worked properly.
STREAMING VIDEO LIKE YOUTUBE
Streaming via YouTube is good thinking for the youngsters by the Datawind but there is some flicker effect occurs when we try to stream video from youtube.
PLAYING AUDIO AND VIDEO
Aakash supports different audio formats and had successfuly played few mp3 files but some other mp3 files are not worked properly.
Video quality is less and it not comes to the expectation.
USB PENDRIVE SUPPORT
Aakash tablet contains 2 USB slots .USB (1GB and 4GB) worked properly but high capacity portable harddisk is not recognized by the tablet (1 TB Seagate).Another problem is that, when the device is goes for sleeping mode while transferring the data from SD card as well as USB pendrive getting rejected automatically.
And an error occurs when a 2GB micro SD card is inserted saying that 'SD Card is unexpectedly removed'
INTERNET BROWSER
The loading time in internet browser is acceptable.
USER INTERFACE
The default launcher is really sucks as its gives a congested feeling on the screen.Scrolling is difficult because you don't have any enough gap between apps to touch your finger on the screen to scroll.Majority of the time you will end up with opening an app while trying to scroll .You have to keep your finger in between the app on a empty screen carefully,if you wanted to scroll the page.

Mystery Behind Rajnikanth Offline Website

Due to the request of my blog readers and my friends.............................................I am publishing an article about the secret behind the Rajnikanth offline website (www.allaboutrajni.com)
The All About Rajni website devolped by Desmartini, has taken the Internet world to a new formula of web revolution. This website isn't like any other website in the world ,it doesnot need any internet connection to browse on it.
How could that be possibile?
This website is nothing but a flashfile that needs an intial internet connection to get download on the computer .Once the flashfile is downloaded technically, the whole website is now on your computer's hard drive itself.
The other feature of this website is that it detects whether our computer is connected to any internet connection or not. This is done by constantly pinging a certain IP address on the internet .At this time the website manages to get a replay, that confirms the presence of the internet connection and blocks the access to the website until the connection is disconnected. When it is disconnected,we can start browsing
I hope that solves the mystery behind the allaboutrajni.com

Galaxy Ace S5830I gets Android 2.3.6 update

The Galaxy Ace (model number S5830I) is reportedly getting the Android 2.3.6 update, as Samsung has finally set a few balls in motion to update its older devices. As reported by Android OS, the update for the Ace is available for download via Samsung’s dedicated software, Kies. Here is the update version for the Ace S5830I: S5830IXXLA2/S5830IODDLA1. Like all other updates, this one will be distributed to Samsung Ace customers in batches, so you’ll have to be a little patient, if you still haven't received the update for your phone.
The Galaxy Ace getting 2.3.6 may be a good deal for some, but the phone in itself does require a major price cut, because it’s competing with the likes of the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman phone and the Spice Mi-350n, in terms of specs and pricing, respectively. The Mi-350n that we reviewed earlier did particularly well in all departments and comes at a relatively more affordable price of 7.5k, as compared to the 14k price tag of the Ace. The S5830I model does have a better camera and a few more features, but the price jump is almost unrealistic.

On the other hand, the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman seems to be a much better deal at 14k, because of its superior specs and also the fact that it will soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. We’re hoping that Samsung’s next announcement is related to their older models getting a price cut of sorts.

Current users of the Galaxy Ace, however, do get the Android 2.3.6 update, so if you’re one of those having a Galaxy Ace, do let us know if the update brings in any major changes for your device.

Rajnikanth website really runs without internet (not a joke)

It may sound like another rajnikanth joke, but it's true,a website is made which is truely dedicated to KOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR RAJNIKANTH which will run without internet connection.

website: www.allaboutrajni.com

The visitors on this site is greeted with a warning message"He is no ordinary man, this is no ordinary website,it turns on Rajni power" and advise to switch off the internet connection. We can explore this website only when the internet connection is disconnected.
This unusual website was developed by Gurbaksh Singh ,webchutney's creative director who developed the site for Desimartini.com. Singh told that the website is based on a complex algorithm running in the backend that keeps an eye on the propagation of data packets between two terminals.
This websites contains rajnikanth jokes, his data profile and some rajni goodies.
The great fun about this website is that, when we try to reconnect the internet connection an error message appears saying
"Aiyyo ! that was unexpected. To keep browser ,switch off your internet"
The latest news is that it is a big hit in social networking sites and it is a begining of a great revolution of offline websites
